"Oliviera" was created in 1950, in the southern part of Crete, in Tympaki, by the Klaourakis family. An area where in its original form exceeded twenty acres of olive grove, in one of the most fertile parts of Messara.

​

Today, a quarter of this area is maintained by the family of Evangelia Klaourakis and her late husband Ioannis Chalkiadakis. Ioannis Chalkiadakis built the first building of today's Oliviera with the purpose of storing olive oil as well as as a country house that was used during the olive harvest.

​

In 2007, the children of Ioannis and Evangelia realized a deep wish of theirs: to make this house a place full of laughter and beautiful moments. The space was renovated and became a country house that over the years hosted many celebrations and parties. The memories and moments in this house fullfill Oliviera's aura to this day!

At the end of 2019, a new effort begins in Oliviera where the grandchildren of Ioannis and Evangelia started a new project: To give tge opportunity to the world to live beautiful moments in Oliviera and create their own memories in it. July 25, 2022, Oliviera opened its doors again hosting its first guests with the same incomparable love that was built and with the companionship of all the beautiful thoughts that have marked them until today...

The name Oliviera…

The origin of the word is not still cleared, as the name Oliviera comes from Italy with roots from the word "Olive", in Italian "Oliva"... Sources state that Oliviera is a House name in Venice, Italy with roots beginning in Bologna around 10th and 11th century AD. As a surname it is still found in states of the USA. by Italian immigrants who arrived there in the fourth decade of the 1800s.

Oliviera today...

Oliviera is a two-floor house surrounded by a huge garden full of olive trees and grass. It has a barbecue and a wood oven under a wooden terrace. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and a large living room with fireplace, kitchen and a bathroom on the ground floor. Its courtyard full of flowers and grass can host from small celebrations to very beautiful ceremonies for you and your loved ones.
